[8 Samples] Letter of Withdrawal from School

You must provide written notice to the former school of your child's withdrawal, including the precise date of final attendance.

You can hand deliver or mail this, but you should keep a copy and record the recipient's name and the date of delivery.

You may be required to complete a withdrawal form by the school, therefore get a copy of that form as well.

There are a variety of reasons why you may wish to take your kid out of school, but whatever the case, you should notify the school in writing of your choice.

This is one instance when a letter, rather than an email, should be used for communication.

This article will provide you the following:
  1. How to write a letter of withdrawal from a school?
  2. Why would you need a letter of withdrawal?

How to write a letter of withdrawal from a school?

The ideal letter to the school informing them of your child's withdrawal would be one that:
  • be written in a professional correspondence style.
  • Include today's date as well as your name and postal address.
  • be sent to the headteacher and include the student's complete name, teacher's name, and class
  • Indicate the departure date of your child.
  • Mention the reason your child was removed. Address the headteacher or principal, who will typically receive the letter, with a formal salutation like "Dear," and end the letter formally with "Yours sincerely," followed by your written signature.

Email is typically not appropriate for such a communication, so you should post or, better yet, hand deliver a letter notifying the school of your child's withdrawaL.

Why would you need a letter of withdrawal?

If their children don't go to school, parents may face legal and criminal consequences, depending on the state.

You will need to submit a letter of withdrawal to the Child Protective Services division. They need to know this in order to give you the all-clear to quit school and start homeschooling.

This letter demonstrates your commitment to the procedure and awareness of your legal obligations as a parent.

You may cancel over the phone, in writing, or in person. If legal issues develop, we advise creating a letter in hard form as an alternative.

1. Withdrawal letter from school template

Greetings, Principal [Name].

This letter is to let you know that, due to personal hardship, I must withdraw my child [Name of Child] from your private school.

My husband, who was financing our child's education, passed away from heart failure on [Date]. The death certificate and the medical records are enclosed.

We have no means of support now that he's gone, so I need to get a job as soon as I can.
The mortgage on our house was covered by my husband's life insurance policy, but I must work to pay for other expenses like food and clothing.

I've attached the withdrawal forms that your school requires. I still have time under school policy to get a complete refund for this semester's fees because the semester only started two weeks ago.
I can be reached at 555-123-4557 or [email protected] if you have any questions or require additional information.

Thank you for giving this some thought.

Sincerely,
Signature

8. Withdrawal letter from school due to financial problems

Hello, Principal

With all due respect, I am writing to ask you for my high school diploma. As you may already be aware, enrolling in an A-level is not something that everyone can easily afford.

Fortunately, due to some personal issues, I was unable to focus on my academics at A-Level, and as a result, my grades suffered greatly. I had received a scholarship for my first year of A-levels based on my O-level grades.

If a student's grades are not maintained, their scholarship will be terminated automatically, per the school's rules. My parents first believed they would be able to pay the money, but owing to financial difficulties, they are unable to do so.

As a result, I will have to drop out of school and most likely take my CAIE Exams privately. On this school, I had a terrific experience and loved my A level.

Please accept my request for my school leaving certificate so that I may begin the application process for admission to any institution.

You have my sincere thanks.

Sincerely,

Name of the students.
