[3 Samples] Letter to Residents about Upcoming Construction

To prevent any sort of disagreement or complaint from the neighbor, you must officially tell them about the building's development. You have to include the start and end dates of construction.

Changes, different site conditions, additional work, or other events that can impact the contractor's schedule and cost of performance are typically subject to written notification requirements in construction contracts.

Giving "notice" is essential for initiating the contractual processes that let the contractor seek additional time and expense and reserve its rights to collect for any unanticipated but connected consequences that may later materialise.

It is crucial to inform the neighbour in writing how the building process will be handled by management. To help you prepare a formal notice of construction letter, utilise this letter template as a guide.

Tips for writing construction notifications to residents

Write down the following detail in the  construction notification to residents:
  • Describe the task that will be done, including any programme advantages.
  • The location of the project
  • Why is the job being done?
  • Who is performing the work (if a contractor is involved, contact information may need to be added)
  • When the work is scheduled to begin and how long it is expected to take?
  • How will the hours impacted affect neighbours and road users (would there be noise, lane closures, road closures, temporary traffic signals, etc.)?
  • How will locals be notified about delays etc.? (Website info?)

Consider encouraging vehicles to use other routes and leaving more time for their travel if work is subject to weather conditions as they are in this location or if it is a particularly sensitive site from a traffic management point of view.

If deliveries to business locations are impacted, try to limit vehicle movements during advertising working hours.
