I am a class ten student and a resident of a distant hamlet in West Bengal who is writing to express my support for the decentralisation of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in order to spread this 'Jan Aandolan' to the country's microlocalities.

The ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan programme was started by the national government in 2014 to promote cleanliness and develop good hygiene habits for the whole population of the country.

Without a doubt, this objective serves a higher purpose. However, it appears that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan project has a significant structural problem.

Under this purpose, there is a defined structure for starting and implementing initiatives. That, in my opinion, is why this ambitious initiative has failed to reach the country's most distant areas.

Cleanliness and the development of sanitary habits are entirely a home issue for people, yet they serve a broader national purpose.

The 'Jan Andolan' can serve the goal from the very bottom of society if the federal government concentrates on creating public knowledge about basic concerns rather than promoting Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Rather of centralising the initiative, the central government should break the chain of command and focus on decentralising and extending the 'Abhiyan' until it reaches its full potential.
